While I have edited and modified many WordPress themes before, this is the first theme I have created on my own mostly from scratch (I used the basic template from http://underscores.me/ as a starting point) I have to say I’m pretty pleased with the result. The SVG/CSS animations were challenging, and I learned a lot while implementing the dark/light theme switching. I’m hoping to go over some of the things I’ve learned soon. My ambition/goal is to start blogging on a regular schedule. (At least once a week).
Quick shout out to Pat David at https://patdavid.net for the tips he gave on Switching Themes. His approach was quite useful in avoiding a ‘switching flash’ when implementing a persistent theme setting.
